Over the past few years, Quebec employers have been required to appoint at least one person responsible for implementing their psychological harassment prevention and complaint handling policy.

However, many managers, executives, administrative staff and new HR professionals find themselves in this role without having received any specific training.

As long as everything is running smoothly, the role may seem straightforward. However, when an employee comes forward, a report is made, or a complaint is filed, questions arise quickly.

What should I do? Who can I speak to about the situation? What information should I document? What are my responsibilities? How can I avoid making a mistake that could negatively affect the individuals involved or the organization?

This training program was designed to answer these questions. You will learn to understand your role, recognize situations that require intervention, and develop the right reflexes from the very first stages of handling a complaint or report.

What You Will Learn

This training will help you understand what is truly expected of a designated person and how to respond when a concern is brought to your attention.

You will learn how to:

  • Understand employer obligations under the Act Respecting Labour Standards (ALS) and the Act Respecting Occupational Health and Safety (AOHS)
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the designated person
  • Recognize different forms of harassment and other situations that may require intervention by the designated person
  • Distinguish between a report and a formal complaint
  • Know what to do when a situation is brought to your attention
  • Identify the first steps to take to protect the individuals involved and the organization
  • Understand the applicable confidentiality requirements
  • Develop effective documentation practices for reported situations
  • Recognize situations that require specialized support or resources

Avoid common mistakes that can compromise the management of a file.

Why Attend This Training?

Under the ALS, designated persons responsible for handling reports and complaints must have access to specific information and training programs. This training directly addresses that requirement.

It will also help you better understand your obligations, develop the right reflexes before a situation arises, and know how to respond when an employee turns to you for assistance. You will also learn documentation, fact-gathering and fact-analysis techniques that can be applied to other workplace investigations and sensitive situations.

Do you already have a harassment prevention and complaint handling policy? Bring it with you. We will take the opportunity to discuss best practices, the obligations arising from your policy, and answer your questions.

Do not be caught off guard when a situation arises. Register today and leave with practical tools, clear answers, and the confidence needed to effectively carry out your role as a designated person.

Notice: Once your registration has been confirmed, it is non-refundable. However, if unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending, you may transfer your registration to a colleague. Simply notify us at least 48 hours before the event.
