This advanced workshop is designed for professionals who already play an active role as designated persons responsible for preventing and addressing workplace harassment within their organization.

This is not an introductory course on the designated person's role. Instead, it is designed to put your judgment, analytical skills, and practical instincts to the test through complex workplace scenarios.

Through realistic situations inspired by real-world workplace challenges, you will analyze reports, assess the admissibility of complaints, determine appropriate responses, and make decisions in sometimes difficult and ambiguous circumstances.

Each exercise will allow you to test your instincts, validate your understanding of your obligations, and examine the potential consequences of your decisions.

Good news: no one will ask you to role-play a distressed employee in front of twenty strangers.

Instead, the goal is simple: to strengthen your judgment, build your confidence, and help you respond more effectively when real situations arise.

Through scenarios inspired by actual workplace situations, you will:

• assess the admissibility of workplace harassment complaints
• distinguish harassment situations from other workplace issues and organizational challenges
• determine the appropriate initial response when a concern or report is raised
• exercise your judgment in cases involving alleged psychological injuries or workers' compensation claims
• develop effective strategies when parties refuse to cooperate or participate in the process
• respond appropriately to various procedural and behavioural issues that may arise during the handling of a complaint
• identify common mistakes made by designated persons and understand their potential consequences
• determine when a workplace investigation should be considered and explore alternative approaches when appropriate
• address issues related to confidentiality, support, and communications with the individuals involved
• evaluate potential administrative or disciplinary measures that may follow an investigation
• compare your approach with those of other designated persons and enrich your analysis through group discussions
• strengthen your understanding of the legal obligations associated with your role.
